Latisse Q & A

What is Latisse™?

The active ingredient in prescription-only Latisse is a drug called bimatoprost. When you dab Latisse along your upper lash line before you go to bed, it accelerates the growth cycle of your existing lashes and may promote the emergence of new lashes, too.

Who can benefit from Latisse?

Anyone who’d like longer, lusher lashes can benefit from Latisse. Even children who’ve lost their eyelashes because of cancer treatments or from alopecia areata can safely regrow their eyelashes with Latisse.

Though Latisse was formulated specifically for people with eyelash hypotrichosis (e.g., fewer or shorter than average eyelashes), you can also use Latisse if you have long lashes but want them to be even longer. Men can use Latisse, too.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t use Latisse?

You shouldn’t use Latisse if you’re pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or if you’re lactating. You may not be able to use Latisse if you have glaucoma or other eye conditions. Dr. Krishingner makes sure you’re a good candidate for Latisse before prescribing it.

How long does Latisse take to work?

If you apply Latisse nightly, you notice longer, lusher lashes after 8-16 weeks. Your lashes might get darker, too. If you stop using Latisse, your lashes will eventually return to their normal length, thickness, and color.

Can I use Latisse with contact lenses?

You should remove your contact lenses before applying Latisse. Don’t put your contact lenses in for at least 15 minutes after applying Latisse.

Can I use mascara with Latisse?

Even though your lashes grow longer and lusher with Latisse, if you want to wear mascara, false eyelashes, or use other eye makeup, you can.

What if I get Latisse on other parts of my skin?

Latisse only promotes hair growth in areas where it’s applied regularly. However, you should be careful not to over-apply Latisse on your lids or get it on other areas of your skin. Gently dab or wipe off any spills or excess.
